The alphabet is a primitive yet sophisticated instrument of communication. Here it provides a rhythmical structure . People, landscapes, memories of Africa and recent adventures on continents as far-flung as Europe and Antarctica are juxtaposed and brought to life in this first collection.
Claire Beynon lives and works in an old villa overlooking Otago harbour, Dunedin. A fulltime artist and writer, she immigrated to New Zealand from Cape Town in 1994 and has been a citizen of this country for nearly a decade. Her artwork is exhibited nationally and internationally, and her award-winning poems and short stories have featured in anthologies both in New Zealand and abroad.
