The Landscape of My Heart: The Bethells and Their Neighbours

Author(s): Mary Woodward

Biography | Regional

The Bethells of Te Henga are the first family of Auckland's west coast who first arrived in New Zealand in 1858. In 1988 Mary Woodward wrote a short familty history for a Bethell family reunion. This book expands that story, including information on how the family journeyed to the outer edge of the Auckland region, clearing the land, working the bush mills, cutting roads, coming to terms with the Maori presence there, and creating a familty that today dominates Te Henga Beach.
