Sydney Parkinson Artist of Cook’s Endeavour Voyage.

Edited by D. J. Carr

Sydney Parkinson was the young chief artist on James Cook’s first voyage in the Endeavour. He died on that voyage aged just 26. In just over two years Parkinson had produced hundreds of drawings of plants and animals. This was the first book to begin to acknowledge Parkinson’s achievements, illustrated from the holdings in the library of the British Museum.
